New York Law Magazine – Law New

Law New focuses on the changing world of law. This includes legal developments in business, technology and the public sector. It is written by lawyers and edited by experienced legal editors. The magazine is published by the New York State Bar Association.

In the event that a new law, regulation or other act of any federal, state or local authority or decision of a court of competent jurisdiction, which would prevent or preclude compliance with a provision of this Agreement (“New Laws”), the parties shall promptly confer upon the modification or suspension or challenging the New Laws. During the period in which these parties are conferring, or while the New Laws are challenged, this Agreement may be modified or suspended to reflect the law as modified or amended, including the addition of or deletion of a requirement, right or option.

A bill (or legislative proposal) is the formal way that an idea for a new law is introduced. Most bills deal with matters that affect the general public and become Public Laws, or Acts, if approved by Congress and signed by the President.

This bill would require City agencies to provide employees and job applicants with information regarding the availability of student loan forgiveness programs, a practice that is currently required only for state and local government employers. This bill would also expand the City’s data breach notification laws to align them with New York State’s SHIELD Act.
