Entertaiment can be viewed in a variety of different ways, from a simple act of self-gratification by an individual choosing his or her own private entertainment from the now enormous choice of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two; or a performance intended for thousands of people. Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as an activity understood objectively, which encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist, and occurs in a passive form.
