Traveling and Hotels

Traveling and hotels

After World War II, the American hotel industry experienced a boom. The three-decade economic expansion spurred increased commercial travel and drove incomes sky-high. Organized labor groups helped redistribute wealth more equally, and the development of the interstate highway system and reliable passenger aircraft made travel more accessible and quicker. This boom also marked the beginning of the American hotel industry’s role as a domestic political battleground.

Price comparison websites

Price comparison websites are becoming more popular in recent years. They help travelers find the best prices on travel services such as hotels and car hire. You can also use them to compare prices on travel insurance. However, you should be aware of the potential downsides. Many of these sites may not show the best prices on all services.

Some of these sites are based on partnerships with other companies. These companies provide data to these sites through APIs and XML feeds. While price comparison websites are designed to find the best deals, they don’t have access to all available travel websites. They may not always be the best choice for travelers, especially if they want to avoid paying high prices.

Location

Location is one of the most important aspects of traveling, especially when booking hotels. A hotel’s location is linked to the area’s attractions, restaurants, and transportation options. As a result, most travelers choose a hotel based on its location. This helps them plan their trips and make decisions on what to do.

Cancellation policies

Travel cancellation policies can vary from airline and hotel chains. Many hotels now offer a flexible cancellation policy to accommodate last-minute cancellations. In addition, the coronavirus pandemic has put travel on hold and many countries have reopened their borders. In such circumstances, the cancellation policy for hotels can be extended to long-haul travelers or even until the pandemic is over. In addition, some hotels have changed their elite status requirements and may have different cancellation policies than usual.

Travelers may also be surprised to learn that the Marriott hotel chain has changed its cancellation policy. It used to have a 24-hour window to cancel reservations; however, the new policy is 48 hours. The change applies to any Marriott or Starwood brand hotel within the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. However, it does not apply to timeshare properties or Design Hotels.

Alternative accommodations

Alternative accommodations are an excellent option when you’re on a budget or simply want to get away from the usual hotel experience. These accommodations are usually located in private homes or small businesses and are excellent for those who are trying to save money on their travels. Airbnb, for example, is a popular alternative to traditional hotels. These businesses cater to the needs of those who want to experience local culture, shop locally, or meet their own needs.

A new report by JLL Hotels & Hospitality highlights the billion-dollar opportunities in the alternative accommodations industry. While most hotel parent companies are not launching new brands in alternative accommodations yet, they are increasingly seeing the benefits of providing these services to their customers.
